2005 Las Madres Syrah

Twig Lane is proud to produce our first vintage, a hand crafted Syrah from the Las Madres vineyard in Sonoma County's Carneros region. The full flavor of this Syrah unmistakably shines through with just an afterthought of oak, due to the aging process of 50% in neutral oak and 50% in 1-year old oak.

Syrahs are intensely flavorful with fruity overtones and a characteristic lushness. The dense, clay soils of Carneros bring a wonderful vitality to the vine and one can detect the unmistakable aromas of peppers and tobaccos as the nose carries through on the palate.

Twig Lane’s Las Madres Syrah shows a wonderful balance of acidity and tannins up front, the fruits and peppers round the middle, and the alcohol and fruits give it a delightfully long finish. Delicious as a young vintage, this Syrah will continue to grow more complex the longer it is held in the bottle.
